170 Years Service Awarded!

Peter Bates, Chairman of the NWABBA attended a ‘Last Night of the Prom’ event given by the Middleton Band at the Parish Church Milnrow.  The concert was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale.

Diplomas of Honour and Long Service Medals were presented Sylvia Risby and Bob Tresedern who have give 60 years service each to brass banding.
Long Service Certificates were presented to David Taylor and Tony O’Mara
The Band Chairman John Cooney was presented with a special award from the Band.

Joint concert- all 3 of Middleton’s bands under one roof!

Monday 18th July saw Middleton Band, Middleton Youth Band and Middleton Training Band perform together in a joint concert at St Anne’s Academy, Middleton.

Severn Valley Railway 1940′s Event – 02/03 July

Another great weekend with excellent playing from all! The band showed just how versatile we can be with our choral version of ‘It’s a long way to Tipparary’ in the march ’1914′, Sing as We Go and Dads Army. It was a very busy weekend with the Youth Band doing 8 spots on both days 4 at Kidderminster Station, 2 at Bridgenorth and 2 at Arley.

Severn Valley Railway 1940′s Event – 25/26 June

Over the weekend of the 25th and 26th June, Middleton Youth Band headed down to Kidderminster for the Severn Valley Railway’s 1940s event, this year under the direction of new MD – Pam Smith.

On both days the Youth Band started their day on Kidderminster Station, pleasing the crowds. The Youth Band then headed up to Bridgnorth to perform another concert in between the brilliant Mr Paul Harper and lovely Miss Lola Lamour.

Beer Walk for Macmillan Cancer Support!

On Saturday the 18th June, a team of walkers from the band once again donned fancy dress and undertook the Saddleworth beer walk 10 mile route through the villages and over the hills and dales of Saddleworth, in order to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer support.
