Middleton Band have recently returned from Butlins Mineworkers Championships where we gained a  top 6 result with a very respectable 5th place out of 17 bands in the second section. The band were very pleased overall with their performance, a little disappointed perhaps that the result was not higher but enjoyed the weekend nonetheless and have taken away some valuable pointers from the adjudicators comments. The band were also mentioned in live twitter feeds by several tweeters on the day, here are our live comments from All4Brass.

The band are gearing up their preparations towards the North West area contest at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Sunday 9th March. The band will be playing Chaucer’s Tunes by Michael Ball in the second section contest which will be held in the Pavillion Theatre. The band are enjoying rehearsing Chaucer’s Tunes and are looking forward to the contest where we are hoping to improve upon last year’s 4th place.

More information about the contest can be found here.

Friends of Middleton Band

The introduction of our new ‘Friends of Middleton Band’ scheme has been very successful with the band gaining many new ‘friends’ over the Christmas period. The popular scheme offers patrons many benefits including

  • Free tickets to three concerts per year
  • Reduced ticket prices to selected showcase events
  • Quarterly newsletters keeping you informed about the band
  • Early notification of band concerts and events

As a self funded brass band we are always looking for additional support to continue to survive and work within the local community. Running a band is very costly, items such as instruments, music, uniforms, transport and rehearsal room upkeep for both the main and youth bands are expensive. If you would like to support us by becoming  a ‘Friend of Middleton Band’ you can easily click the subscribe button below to enrol for just £10 per year and collect all the above benefits and additionally gain the satisfaction of helping promote live music in the area and beyond.
