The band were invited to play as Councillor Alan Godson was sworn in as the new Mayor of Rochdale at the Mayor Making Ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall this evening.
Former Mayor and Mayoresses, MPs, Councillors and invited guests watched as last year’s Mayor Zulfiqar Ali handed over the chains of office to Councillor Godson.
We were excited to play the Mayor’s specially requested programme, including Selections from West Side Story, Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana and the full overture, Orpheus in the Underworld.
The band wish Alan good luck and best wishes for a fabulous term in office!
