Chris Parkinson
Chris started playing the tenor horn at the age of 8 with the 2nd Rossendale Scout Group Brass Band in Bacup, Lancashire. After a while he progressed to the Euphonium and has played with several bands over the years. Chris first played with Middleton in his youth, then later with Lancashire Youth, Todmorden Old, Blackburn & Darwen, and more recently with Haslingden & Helmshore. Chris saw a fantastic opportunity to play Solo Euphonium for Middleton and is looking forward to musical challenges the band has to offer.
Shelley Thomas
Shelley started to play the cornet at school in the Midlands, at the tender age of 8. After a while she moved to the opposite side of the band, first to tenor and then to bass trombone, a seat she occupied in various bands for over 20 years. However, in 2009 she deserted her fellow trombonists for the Euphonium section and has never looked back!
Having lived in the Midlands and the North East, Shelley has previously played for Arrow Valley Brass, Easington Colliery Band, Felling Band, Ferryhill Town Band, Todmorden Community Band and Littleborough Public Band.
Her favourite pieces are Mack and Mabel, October Festival, Adventures in Brass and pretty much anything by Philip Sparke. Her least favourite are any that involve playing arrangements of cheesy pop music!
She is having a fantastic time playing for Middleton and is looking forward to working hard and helping the band achieve its goals.
