Back Row Cornets

Louise Crane

Louise Crane

Soprano Cornet - Louise Crane

Louise took up the cornet at school in 1987. She then swapped to Trumpet and joined her high school wind and swing bands.

Louise also played trumpet in the Oldham Music Centre wind band, swing band, jazz orchestra and also played bass recorder/crumhorn in the early music group.

Louise continued to play trumpet through university and right up until she was roped into joining Middleton Band in 2000. Lou dusted off her cornet and joined the front row, staying there for a year before being issued with a pea shooter and being thrown in at  the deep end – the sop seat in 2001.

Lou often helps out other local bands earning the nickname rentasop!

The highlights of Louise’s career include being immortalised on 3 band CD’s, playing at the National finals in 2002 and winning the 3rd section finals in 2007.
